Criteria

Requirements

Prospective parents are welcome to visit St. Joseph’s School - Yorkville for a tour and meeting with the admissions director and principal. This combination helps to provide prospective newcomers with a more accurate depiction of our school community. In addition, the prospective student is required to take an admissions assessment, which will allow for the opportunity to assess the child’s academic performance and/or developmental readiness.

 

Assessments are as follows:

  • Informal assessment for incoming Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4
  • Assessment of developmental readiness for incoming Kindergarten
  • Formal assessment in reading and mathematics for incoming Grade 1
  • Formal assessment in reading, composition, and mathematics for Grades 2 - 8
  • Applicant must score a minimum of 75% per component on the St. Joseph's School - Yorkville admission assessment in Grades 1 – 8. All assessments/exams are restricted documents.
  • All applicants must be fully immunized based on the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene regulations.  

 

To enroll at St. Joseph’s School - Yorkville for the 2026 - 2027 academic year, the following criteria apply:

 

 Pre-K 3

Applicants must be three years old by December 31, 2026 and must be fully toilet trained by April 1, 2026.

 Pre-K 4

Applicants must be four years old by December 31, 2026 and must be fully toilet trained.

 Kindergarten

Applicants must be five years old by December 31, 2026, currently attending a Pre-Kindergarten 4 Program, and submit an academic recommendation from the current school with a copy of the current Pre-Kindergarten 4 progress report/report card.

 Grade 1

Applicants must be six years old by December 31, 2026, enrolled in a Kindergarten program for the 2025 - 2026 academic year, submit an academic recommendation from the current school, a copy of the current Kindergarten progress report/report card, and the final progress report from Pre-Kindergarten 4.

 Grades 2 - 8

Applicants must submit copies of current and previous report cards, standardized testing results, New York State English language arts and mathematics exam results, and an academic recommendation from the current school.
